News Updates for April 29, 2010:

"The 1st Annual Kelly Sheen Memorial, May 29, 2010"
The family of Kelly Sheen has contacted Champion Motor Speedway about an annual event. This race will grow each year and soon be a two day event. Kelly Sheen, a well known gentleman, father, husband, and race car fabricator passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Some wonderful people with generous hearts have already committed as sponsors to Super Boost the Prize Money.
In addition to celebrating the memory of Kelly Sheen, The 1st Annual Kelly Sheen Memorial will itself be a fund raiser and a donater to a well known charity.
The following classifications are slated: Modified, Sport Modified, I-Stock, Hobby Stock, and Street Stock. Street Stocks will be required to use Holley 350 CFM 2 Barrel Carbs, subject to IMCA Testing.

"Spint Car Counts"
The Winged Sprint Cars are growing in number!
There are some 'Behind the Scene', 'Make it Happen' people buying, building, selling, and promoting the Winged Sprint Cars in the Permian Basin.
They have set goals, and are working very hard to see 20 SPRINT CARS EACH WEEK at Champion Motor Speedway.... and they say, "It will happen!"
Good Luck, gentlemen, we can't wait to see that show every Saturday!

"DOUBLE FINISH NIGHT"
The IMCA Modifieds and I-Stocks won't loose their "Double Finish Nights". So whatever position they finish in their feature can count as two towards their best ten finishes of the season. Each Driver gets to throw out their worst finishes and keep their best ten finishes. BONUS PRIZE MONEY is posted in the Texas Ten Best Series.

"FASTER TRACK THIS WEEK?"

Its a bird...    its a plane.......    its.......      BLADE MAN!!
When someone is really, really good at something, they should be recognized!!
Champion Motor Speedway has yet another VERY TALENTED PERSON who helps make the show happen.
His name is Bill Steinhauer, and he "Cuts the Track" with the CMS road grader.
its BLADE MAN!
Wow! is this guy good, or what?! Take a look at this weeks track.... Not one dip, bobble, hump, or problem anywhere...
Thanks, Bill, it was great to watch you do your thing! GOOD JOB.

"THE PROCRASTINATORS CLUB"
IMCA has sent a list to Champion Motor Speedway, involving competitors who DO NOT HAVE IMCA LICENSES!! If you are one, you will not get to race on May 1st. Some people have not purchased the IMCA License while others have yet to complete necessary Minor's Release paperwork.
NOW ITS SERIOUS because as an IMCA Sanctioned Track, Champion Motor Speedway MUST enforce IMCA Rules.
We all know you meant to, right?... You just haven't gotten around to it.
PLEASE - COMPLY - SO - YOU - CAN - RACE!
Contact "Virginia" at IMCA - 1-319-472-2201, Extension 215.

"Thank you, Carol"
Carol's Ambulance Service in Odessa, Texas has been very generous to Champion Motor Speedway. She is basically allowing us the use of a fully equipped ambulance at the end of the 2010 season (for what she charged us)... It was basically a Sponsorship with a Free Ambulance at the end of the year. Thank you, Carol... If anyone you know needs Professional Medical Transportation, you should know that Carol's arrives with two important items: Professionally Equipped Staff, and a BIG HEART that Truly Cares.
Carols Ambulance Service can be reached at 432-335-8081.

News Updates for April 13, 2010:

"They're 3... wait..., 4 wide!"
Have you ever seen Street Stocks enter turn 1 three wide, and exit turn 2 four wide? That takes confidence and skill. It takes trusting your competitors and knowing the track will stay under you when you need it!

Have you ever seen it? Then come see The Super Show every Saturday night at "THE HOOK"... Champion Motor Speedway!

Hooked Up

Got Hook?
If you are a racer, we have the track you dream about at night. Have you ever seen a Hobby Stock carry the left front tire? That's a regular occurrence around Champion Motor Speedway... the most hooked-up and wicked fast racetrack in the region. Bring some motor, right rear spring, and nerves of steel... its on like King Kong around this place... for sure!

MUFFLERS REQUIRED
Starting April 17th 2010, IMCA Approved Mufflers will be REQUIRED on ALL CARS WITH HEADERS, NO EXCEPTIONS. Any car with headers found without mufflers will be disqualified by the Tech Department.

"Dwarfs"
Champion Motor Speedway hosted the West Texas Dwarf Cars last Saturday, April 10th. These folks are having fun and their association is growing... rapidly. They have a loyal following and give back to their communities with fund raising events.
Mr. Gary Jackson is their capable leader and their car count has doubled in one year. They are easy to find in the Pits, working on each others cars... and smiling.
Thank you, WTDC, we're proud to know you.

"What is a Buffalo Egg?"
Well, its a batter dipped, deep fried Snickers bar. As you might guess, they are a hit with the fans, but only between the ages of 3 and 93. "Diet? We dont need no stinking diet... lets order a Buffalo Egg".

"Hard Worker... Loves Racing"
Champion Motor Speedway announcer Rhonda Romine is Go, Go, Go! She appears to be tireless, on race nights as she "calls the show". Up and down the grandstands, interviewing, announcing, organizing, and just plain working hard.
Why... this girl loves racing... especially the hooked-up monster shows at Champion Motor Speedway!

"Hey Rick, take a bow"
If its broken, leaking, burned out, twisted off, mangled, squeaking, or any other equipment or facility issue... Ricks on it! Champion Motor Speedway is fortunate to have such a hard working and honest man taking care of the details that allow us to have quality shows every Saturday. All of the above with a good attitude... you know, is he really human, or... an "IRON MAN"?

"How Many Photos?"
Dirk Fant, the Official Photographer of Champion Motor Speedway, took over 800 photos last week! He is new to racing, but a crack shot with his camera indeed. Dirk is having a blast... and his photos are superb quality. Check out his website at digitalpointphotography.net.
Dirk, welcome to Champion Motor Speedway.... P.S. - the blurry things are race cars on buffalo clay.
